A.R. Charnes

Mr. A.R. Charnes is the vice president of marketing for Getty Petroleum Marketing Inc. a subsidiary of Lukoil Co. He is a 41-year veteran of the oil industry, beginning his career with Marathon Oil Co. in 1966 after graduating from The University of Findlay with a marketing major.
For 22 years, A.R. worked with Marathon as a manager in variety of assignments, including retail, direct and wholesale marketing, jobber and distributor sales, credit cards, special projects, advertising, TBA and merchandising, fuel oil sales, delivery operations and real estate management.
After joining Getty Petroleum Corp. in 1988 as New England regional manager, and later promoted to northern division manager, he took the position of general manager of marketing in Getty’s corporate office in Jericho, N.Y. in January 1988. The Board of Directors elected Mr. Charnes to the position of vice president of marketing in September 1998. After the Lukoil takeover of Getty Petroleum Inc. in January 2001, he assumed the position of vice president of marketing with Getty Petroleum Marketing., a subsidiary of Lukoil.
A.R. will retire February 2008. A.R. has participated in various oil industry organizations, including the Independent Oil Marketers Association of New England and the National Association of Convenience Stores. He is also a member of The University of Findlay Alumni Association, Varsity F Alumni and was active in youth groups in the various communities where he was located.
A 1966 graduate of The University of Findlay, and later the Dartmouth-Tuck Business School, Executive Management Program, he currently resides with his wife, Mary Ann, in McCormick, S.C.
