Stacey Bess

Inspirational Educator Stacey Bess

Thursday, March 29,  7-8:30 p.m.
UF Alumni Memorial Union Multipurpose Room
Author of "Nobody Don't Love Nobody"

She taught students who had previously been labeled "unteachable" in a small shed known as The School With No Name.  During her 11 years at the school, Stacey Bess learned that by teaching love, self-worth, personal power and courage, she could reach children who had known nothing but poverty and neglect.

Bess holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education from The University of Utah.  As a leading advocate for the educational rights of impoverished children, she has been recognized with several awards including the National Jefferson Award for Greatest Public Service.

The College of Education at The University of Findlay invites future and in-service teachers to attend.  The event is free and open to the public.  For more information, contact Dr. Julie McIntosh, dean, at 419-434-4062 or mcintosh@findlay.edu.

The University of Findlay College of Education will host youth advocate and former professional athlete Rob Dixon as he presents “Closing the Academic Achievement Gap: Youth Empowerment and Self-Esteem” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, at Winebrenner Theological Seminary.
