Post-Secondary Program

Post-Secondary Program

[Be] an Early Oiler!

This program assists public high schools in the local area by providing a post-secondary option for qualified high school students.

Any high school student (9th through 12th grade) who is interested in the Post-Secondary Program and maintains a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA should schedule an appointment with his or her high school guidance counselor to determine appropriate course selection.  This meeting should be repeated prior to the beginning of each new semester at The University of Findlay.

Eligible students may enroll in a maximum of nine credit hours per semester at the 100 or 200 level of courses. If the high school counselor decides that the student may select any courses he or she wants, it must be put in writing on the course selection sheet and signed by the counselor.

A high school junior or senior with a 4.0 cumulative GPA or above may enroll at The University of Findlay full time, taking up to 18 credit hours per semester.  The student must have enough available Carnegie Units from the high school to support a full time schedule at the University.  In addition to meeting with the high school counselor, the student will also be required to attend advising sessions with the coordinator of the Post-Secondary Program at The University of Findlay.

There are two options available within the Post-Secondary Program:

  1. Option A permits eligible students to enroll in college/university courses for college credit.  Students selecting this option are required to pay all costs incurred including tuition, books, materials, and fees.  NOTE:  The University of Findlay will grant a scholarship equal to one-half of the current tuition to each eligible student.
  2. Option B permits eligible students to enroll in college/university courses for high school and college credit.  Students selecting this option are not required to pay for tuition, books, materials, or service fees associated with the courses.  (The local secondary schools will meet these costs.)  Option B students must have permission from their guidance counselor to participate in the Early Entrance Program.

*Supplies, such as for art and science courses, are not covered by Post-Secondary Options.  Students taking music lessons will also be responsible for the lesson fee.
