Approximately 260
degrees will be awarded by The University of Findlay during fall commencement
ceremonies at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, in the Koehler Fitness and Recreation Complex
on campus.
Nearly 125 master’s
degrees will be awarded, as will more than 120 bachelor’s degrees and 14
associate’s degrees.
Mayor-elect
and an alumna of the University, Lydia Mihalik, will give the commencement
address. Mihalik graduated from The University of Findlay with a bachelor’s
degree in political science in 2002. In November, she was elected the city of
Findlay’s first female mayor with more than 73 percent of the vote.

The University’s
traditional Arch Ceremony will immediately follow commencement at approximately
3:30 p.m. at the Griffith Memorial Arch. The Arch is named for Caddie A.
Griffith, Class of 1909. She headed the Findlay College department of English
in 1914-16 and 1917-18, before going on to
serve as dean of women at Franklin College, Indiana, and Ohio Wesleyan
University, Delaware, Ohio. She died in 1923.
