Faculty Senate Curriculum Committee

All undergraduate curriculum/program changes are to be submitted to the Faculty Senate Curriculum Committee (FSCC).  Please send them to FSCC 2011/2012 Chair, Judy McCrory, jmccrory@findlay.edu

Proposal due dates have been selected to allow enough time for FSCC proposal review prior to the Faculty Senate submission deadline.

The FSCC is requesting that each college number their proposals.  As each college submits more proposals through the academic year, they should continue the numbering sequence.  For example, the COE has four proposals that are being presented to Faculty Senate. The College should number these as COE#1U-#4U. If the College of Education were to submit a proposal to the FSCC to be considered for the next Faculty Senate meeting, that one would be numbered COE#5U.  Beginning in 2011, the FSCC and GCCC request the addition of a  "U" or "G" at the end of the proposal number since the same form will be used for each committee. Renumbering will start over at the beginning of each academic year.

The FSCC requests that the a Course Update or Program Update Proposal Form be used for each proposal.  For the COE example above, the COE #1U-#4U proposals should be submitted as four separate documents.  The numbers on the cover pages should coincide with the order that the college would like the proposals addressed. For example, addition of courses should be completed prior to a change of major. The 2011/2012 forms contain spaces for all required information. Please refer to the guidelines for completing the forms or ask your college's FSCC representative if you have questions regarding the submission of a proposal to Faculty Senate.

Prior to a proposal being submitted to the FSCC for its review and recommendation to Faculty Senate, the proposal for a course and/or program update should be approved by the academic college from which the program/course will be housed, and also any academic college upon which the proposal has a direct impact. Verification of this review should be supported by the completion of a Curriculum Review Memorandum from each affected college.

Additional documents that may be needed depending on the proposal include the Evidence of Needs Assessement and Budget Memorandum and Evidence of Student Matriculation Support Memorandum.

Colleges should be sure that their FSCC members can speak on the college’s behalf. Only proposals being submitted by Committees need to have representation at FSCC meetings.

See the Faculty Forms and Manuals Web page for additional information.
