Residence Halls

Lovett Hall

Lovett Residence Hall, built in 1959, was the first modern residence hall for women. It is named after Lillian Avann Lovett, a 1892 graduate of Findlay College. Her husband, George Lovett, was a 1894 Findlay graduate and the first Findlay football player to rush for 100 yards in a single game. Both were active in their support for their alma mater. George, who became a lawyer with General Motors in Detroit, Mich., gave Findlay 1,000 shares of GM stock, estimated value at $50,000, in memory of his wife. A 26-room addition to the south wing of Lovett was added in 1965 at a cost of $194,000.
