The University of Findlay - Mazza Enthusiasts

Jerry Pinkney said, “I love the act of making marks on paper, and seeing those marks develop into a picture. My intent and hope is to lead the viewer into a world that only exists because of that picture.”

The Mazza Enthusiasts invite you to join us as we encourage children to read and recognize original artwork by the most distinguished and honored illustrators of children’s books.

Our organization was founded in 1991 with the purpose of providing volunteer and financial support to the Mazza Museum. By joining the Mazza Enthusiasts, you will help the Mazza Museum continue to develop its programs. In particular, in 2010 we:
• trained docents to give school tours
• helped plan/host visiting artist events
• purchased books that correspond to our art
• furnished a children’s library for the clients of Open Arms and Cancer Patient Services
• financed the Mazza Medallion Award
• preserved the museum’s archival material
• provided a scholarship for a student to attend the Weekend Conference
• supported Funday Sunday events

The Mazza Enthusiasts gift shop is managed and staffed by dedicated ME volunteers. The 2010 gift shop profit, $19,273, was given to support various Mazza Museum programs, which include a computer, bookends and supplies for the Children’s Literature Book Center, honoraria for artists’ visits, and printing and mailing the Mazza Calendars. An additional $2,150 was given to the Dr. Jerry J. Mallett Institute Endowment Fund.
