Foundation Center materials
An older version of The Foundation Center (FC) Search database on CD-ROM (Version 9.0) is located in the
Grant Research Materials Area
in Shafer Library. It contains records for all known active foundations in the United States and for numerous corporate giving programs which totals about 78,300 grantmakers. The FC Search database contains 353,000 names of trustees, officers, and donors of these foundations and corporate funders. The database contains about 335,700 recent grant awards of $10,000 or more. The information contained in FC Search database was primarily compiled from IRS-990s (public foundations) and IRS 990-PF (private foundations) returns. Since this database does not contain the latest information on grant sources, the Grants Office suggests that you utilize this database as an initial resource before conducting a more thorough search on the Internet.
The University Grant Library
The University of Findlay also has numerous volumes by The Foundation Center and other organizations that can be utilized for researching funding sources. These volumes are located in the Faculty Development Center at 225 Davis Street. A
list
of the volumes is attached. Again, since most of these volumes are several years old, it is suggested that you use them as an initial resource only.
Foundation Center Cooperating Collections
The Foundation Center has over 200 libraries across the United States that house cooperating collections for the Center. There are nine of these libraries in the state of Ohio and the nearest one is Lima Public Library in Lima, Ohio. The cooperating collections consist of directories, newsletters, IRS Form 990s, and FC Search Database on CD-ROM which are used to research for sources of grant funding from foundations. For a complete list of all libraries, see http://foundationcenter.org/collections/ccoh.html
